On our way home from California last month, somewhere over Greenland, I broke through the 100,000 mile mark for travel in 2010. In keeping with the past (2009, 2008) I've put together a "year in travel" review, for posterity if nothing else. I traveled a lot in 2010 but the nice thing is it didn't FEEL like it was too much. I got to visit several places that I had never been before (Singapore, Shanghai, Zagreb, Vienna, Dublin, Oslo, Vilnius), as well as returning home to San Francisco twice. I also got to go back to Hong Kong for the first time in over 7 years which was a real treat. In all I covered 103,828 miles on 36 flights including one where I flew from San Francisco to Singapore via Hong Kong for a day. 30+ hours of travel for less than 24 hours on the ground in Singapore. I don't recommend doing that. The crazy thing is, I took my foot way off the pedal in August, a month before my son Luke was born. I shudder to think how many miles I would have racked up if I'd kept up my pace.
So here's the map and list for 2010. Multiple, non-consecutive stays are noted with asterisks.
